The archbishop Sigismund von Schrattenbach created on top of the Böckstein mountain the baroque jewel „Maria vom guten Rat“. The pilgrimage church impresses visitors with its marvelous ceiling fresco representing the story of the origin of the miraculous image of the Virgin Maria „Maria vom guten Rat” by Genazzano. Another attraction of Bad Gastein is the church of St Nicholas built around the year 1380.
