Böcksteiner Höhenweg – high peak path
Time about 1 hour and 15 minutes This beautiful forest trail, from where you can enjoy unforgettable panoramic views, taking you in the direction of Bad Gastein with a slight incline. At Bad Gastein you will arrive near the waterfall of the Palfnerbach brook. From the Raika parking you can take the bus to Böckstein or return to Böckstein on foot along the Elisabethpromenade path.
Naßfeld (Sportgastein 1599m)
Time about 2 hours Follow the old Naßfeldweg path, passing the alpine huts Astenalmen (where you can take a first break), until you reach the enormous waterfall, the bridges and the gorge of Sportgastein. After a snack in one of the many alpine huts or a trip on the “didactic nature path” of the National Park, you can return to Böckstein by bus.
Radeckalpe (1573m)
Time about 2 hours A transhumance path, closed to cars, takes you the Anlauftal valley to the Radeckalpe (inn) at the foot of the Ankogel mount. The hike in the Anlauftal valley is particularly interesting and varied: crossing the deep forest you reach the mountain hut Radeckalm, from where you can enjoy the unforgettable panoramic view on the valley’s end with the Ankogel mount and its snow capped summit. This is a top hiking destination! Very important for your four legged friends is a brook along the way.
Mountain hut Bockhartseehütte (1977m)
Time about 1 hour From the Valeriehaus (Sportgastein) take the road to the power station on the Bockhartsee lake to the old houses of the miners. Then follow the marked path to the Bockhartsee lake. Before the last bend, take the turn-off with several hairpin bends to the peak. From the mountain hut you can enjoy the unique panoramic view and an excellent chamois stew, while your dog can take a refreshing bath in the lake.
Alpine hut Böckfeldalm
Time about 45 minutesA pleasant path in the forest rich in panoramic views takes you to the peak. Admire Boeckstein and the extraordinary views of the mountains. At the alpine hut Böckfeldalm you should taste the homemade mountain cheese, the bread and the farm cookies. Sometimes the host plays the Styrian harmonica or the guitar.
Crossino Korntauern mount till Mallnitz (2460m)
Time about 4 hours, Korntauern-Mallnitz about 3,5 hours. And of course there are also more challenging paths for mountain lovers. The path takes you to the peak with steep hairpin bends; the view of the other peaks is really breathtaking. This path was once an important route for traders travelling from North to South. The highest point of the alpine pass Korntauern reaches 2460 m. From there you turn South to the alpine hut Hannoverhaus (2772 m), to the mountain hut without catering MindenerHütte (2428 m) and to the alpine hut Hagener Hütte (2446 m). After a refreshing snack in the hut you can reach Mallnitz crossing one of the most beautiful grazing areas. Return to Boeckstein by train crossing the Tauern gallery.
Peter Sika path
Time about 3 hours From Altböckstein at the height of the forest trail you have to turn in the direction of Hieronymus house. Continue to the Blumfeldköpfl and then cross some exposed slopes in the area of the Schideck. The path continues under the funicular Goldbergbahn southward to the Knappenbäudelsee lake. Passing through the Weißbachtal valley you return to the Naßfeld high plateau.
